About

Southbourne Beach is one of Bournemouth's favourite Blue Flag award winning beaches, particularly loved by the locals for its wide, exceptionally clean, sandy and shingle beaches situated further to the West of Bournemouth, away from the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth Pier and the town centre. Access Southbourne beach directly from Southbourne high street through Fisherman's walk.

The beach is popular with young families due to convenient facilities such as toilets with baby changing facilities, lost children centres, RNLI lifeguard stations, pubs and ice cream kiosks.

Fisherman’s Walk nature trail is a stunning walk along the cliff top situated between Fisherman's Avenue and Portman Crescent in Southbourne, linking to Southbourne Grove. It is a narrow strip of wooded land with a nature trail, woodland flowers and shrubs, and plenty of wildlife. Here you’ll find more refreshments and a lovely walk down the zig zag to the beach.

Just up from Southbourne beach is the beautiful Hengistbury Head which is a relatively unspoilt beach, consistently featuring in the annual TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice® awards for Beaches. It has a south-facing pebble beach, with imposing clay and ironstone cliffs, and soft, sandy beaches at Mudeford spit, which is lined with the famous colourful Mudeford beach huts.

Award winning Southbourne Beach also has an abundance of colourful beach huts to rent all year round from the local beach office.
